Smokin' Joe is the nickname of legendary American boxer Joseph William Frazier. Frazier was born on January 12, 1944, in Beaufort, South Carolina and died on November 7, 2011. He was one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of his time, known for his aggressive style and powerful left hook. Frazier won a gold medal in the 1964 Olympics and went on to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in 1970 when he defeated Jimmy Ellis. Frazier is perhaps best known for his three epic fights against Muhammad Ali. These fights are still considered some of the greatest boxing matches of all time. Frazier retired from boxing in 1981 with a record of 32 wins (27 by knockout), four losses, and one draw. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.
